Silence started their activity in April 2000, from the merging of Casafusa (metal band with a hardcore influence) and Insanya (thrash metal band). The band was initially made up by Alessandro Schettino (electric guitar), Matteo Businaro (bass guitar), Marco DeLuca (drums) and Danny Glick (lead singer).
After a period of adjustment without a definitive name (they kept changing name, from Midian, to Banshee and Encrateia) and while playing Iron Maiden’s and Europe’s covers, the four started to write their own songs and rearranged two of Casafusa’s. The sound that took shape from the fusion of the four minds was Classic Metal, where you can hear 80’s Iron Maiden’s influence in the guitar riffs and in the drum beat. While looking for a fifth member to complete the band, the four rearranged ‘Wings of Destiny’ and ‘Words full of Silence’.
They choose for the name ‘Silence’ and in December 2000 recorded a four-track CD. Badly produced, the CD was never released but it was very useful to the band as the very first studio experience. 2001: Fabio Cavestro “the Viking” became member of the band.
Silence start up with several gigs with a good feedback from the audience. The band was again on studio on july 2002 to record their first official demo CD ‘Full of Silence’, that finally enjoy their aspectatives The Cd presentation took place on 19th December 2002 at Midnight Pub in Milan, and the audience response was enthusiastic as always.
Track list of ‘Call My Name’ as follows: Night Singer Terra Libera In Thy Embrace In 2003 Silence was ever on stage. The band then started to play live with a very good feedback from the audience. In 2003 live activity became more and more intense. In May they were invited to take part in a big festival called Meeting del Mare, which takes place every year in Marina di Camerota, Salerno.
The headliners of that night were Articolo 31. Silence were the only hard rock / heavy metal band on stage and their exhibition simply drove the audience crazy.
In the following months their live activity kept regular and they became part of the roster of the Black Dahlia Agency, but in March 2004 there came some internal problems, which eventually led the band to split from their drummer Lugh. Two of three dates which followed the split were covered by Mario Giannini, who helped the band as a session man. Around the end of April, Alessandro ‘Rullo’ Durini came in touch with Silence and in May he joined the band.
With the line up finally completed, the band was once again invited to play at the Meeting del Mare in Marina di Camerota, this time as supporter of Caparezza: they actually played in front of 20.000 people! 2005 and 2006 were completely dedicated to record the complete studio album including all Silence’s songs. 2007 are a particularly intense year for the band that it sees them entire engages to the realization of the cd near the Moonhouse Studios of Milan.
